How can I reinforce a plaster of paris Picture Frame?
I have a mold for a plaster of paris picture frame. I need to make several of these frames and ship them hundreds of miles away, but I need to ensure safe passage without breakage.
How can I reinforce the plaster from the inside of the frame, for instance can I sandwich layers of cheesecloth within the plaster or will this weaken the structure? Is there anything else I can mix into the plaster before pouring?
Any help is appreciated!
mix Wolastonite in with the plaster. It is a powerded glass used in the fiberglass industry for thickening polyester resin into a putty. It makes the mixture very strong. Use more for thickening, use less for more runny consistency. You can also use “chopped strand” also available from a fiberglass supply dealer.
