5×5 Photo Albums
How do i go about getting 5×5 prints?
I have been looking at wedding photographers and I saw one who actually did the proofs as 5×5’s with a white border and had them in a photo album so that no matter the layout (whether the pictures were taken as landscape or portrait) the album did not have to be turned to see each picture correctly.
I would like to do this myself, take the copyright images from the wedding cd and print 5×5’s and then just buy an album to hold the photos.
I have looked on shutterfly, snapfish, etc and no one seems to do 5×5. It’s all 4×6. Is there someplace to get these? I want to print all 200 photos from the wedding.
The photographer who made those pictures probably used a 6×6cm square format film camera to shoot the wedding pictures. Many pro labs will process film into square images and 5×5 inch is the most common proof size for those images. To get square format from rectangular negative or sensor format would mean either cutting off some of every image, leaving large white space on the tops or sides of each image or distorting the image which would make people look very fat or very skinny depending on the orientation.
A solution to your problem is to find an album that has square pages with “inserts” to frame the pictures. Many wedding album makers have this type of page.
