3 Ring Photo Albums
Ok. Is this what a scrapbook is? Help?
Ok. I have to create a scrapbook for Beowulf.
Can I just buy a large 3 ring binder or photo album … use colored paper and put pictures of things related to Beowulf on each page. Like one page setting, one page with pictures of Grendel, one page pictures and versions of herot… etc?
Deals has scrapbook stuff for really cheap. Since this isn’t for you, I’d start there and at Dollar Tree. Even though they’re the same company, Dollar Tree usually has better stuff. The one on Lemay Ferry near 270 usually has a good selection. I would use a top loading album or a 3 ring binder. Don’t put things on both the front and back of the same piece of paper. You’re stuck then and can’t move pages around.
You can use a glue stick for this kind of assignment. If you put the glue on both pieces it’s pretty permanent. If you were making a scrapbook for real, this wouldn’t be the best choice.
Do buy a paper cutter. It’ll save you tons of time, and make it look so much better than if you try to use a scissors. You can use it a lot of other times too. I even use it to cut coupons. It’s just handy to have. Get the 12″ one, not the 6″ or you’ll have to cut with a scissors anyway. Don’t waste your money on those fancy scissors. It’s hard to cut straight with them and things wind up lopsided. I have a ton of them and never use them.
You can make titles and do the journalling on the computer or in your own handwriting. If you’re going to write, it’s probably best to write on white scrapbook paper using a calligraphy pen. If you don’t know calligraphy, just print and let the pen do the work. One black pen will cost a couple dollars, and really look cool.
WalMart has a lot of inexpensive stuff too. But for something like this, use your imagination…maybe Prince Valiant comics from the Sunday paper could be the background on something?
If you decide you like scrapbooking and want to do it for yourself, you’ll want better supplies and other forms of adhesive. If that day ever comes, ask and I’ll be glad to get you on the road. I wasted a lot of time and money trying to be cheap. Now I know what lasts and what to splurge on and what to skimp on.
